The Revival Room are an organ trio that go to places most organ trios don’t. From detailed and compelling free playing to interpretations of pieces by composers such as Carla Bley and Herbie Nichols, the trio investigate the possibilities of the organ trio as a flexible contemporary medium. They also enjoy plunging into areas that do recall the great organ tradition; groove and dirt are as much a part of the mix as sophisticated post-bop and out-playing.
The trio are:
Adam Fairhall – drawbar organ
Mark Hanslip – tenor sax
Johnny Hunter – drums
The Revival Room is the focus for Adam’s renewed interest in the organ, and it’s potential for playing contemporary, free music.
